On 22nd February 2017 as part of the Macmillan Living With and Beyond Cancer Programme we were invited to have a presence at their Haematology Cancer Health and Wellbeing event. We had a stand and new 'posh' banner at the Oldham library where the event was held.
Great 'turnout' from the 'group'! We gained a lot of information from the sessions and made contact with professionals and people wanting to know more about the group and how we could help them.
Well done everyone and didn't we look smart in our new t-shirts?
On the 9th March we had our mindfulness taster session which was very much enjoyed. Thank you Trish Poole for giving your time and wetting our appetites!
On 20th April Sarah Lowiss and Suzanne Bland (Macmillan Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialists) attended our meeting. Thank you to you both for attending we hope you got an idea about what we are about. We appreciate your interst and welcome the interction with us. Please come again soon!
Also at the April meeting Trudy Taylor (Macmillan User Involvement Facilitator) attended to discuss the Macmillan Information and Support Scoping Project, People Affected by Cancer Survey. Thank you everyone for completion of the survey and to Trudy for visiting us it is always a pleasure!
October - Rodney Butterworth
Many of you will know that Rodney sadly passed away on 25th September. He was a wonderful gentleman and a most popular and respected member of our group.
We spent most of our October meeting reminiscing about Rodney who was a prolific story writer and poet. Some of his work is available here.
We would also like to acknowledge the donation to our group from Annette, Rodney's long standing friend and neighbour, it was a pleasure to meet you.
To all his family and friends we are sorry for your loss
Rodney you will be greatly missed by everyone.
December - We had a lovely time at our Christmas buffet and fun picking winners for our raffle. Even better we made £700 from the sale of tickets so well done everyone! Pictures are available on the 2017 Gallery page.
Thanks to Amanda and her staff at the 'Masonic' for all your hard work and making the occasion special!
The next meeting of our group is the Christmas buffet and raffle on 13 December at 1pm at the Middleton Masonic Hall.
